ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

Unipod at the University of Rwanda —College of Science and Technology (UR CST) is a digital fabrication and innovation hub dedicated to applied technology, design-led production, and practical skills development. As a nationally recognised centre of excellence in precision woodworking and computer-aided manufacturing, Unipod bridges traditional craft and modern digital fabrication — producing furniture, interior fit-outs, and fabricated components for the University of Rwanda and the wider community.

We are now opening six (6) places on our Professional On-Job Training Programme — a structured, twelve (12) month engagement for experienced woodworking and metal fabrication practitioners who are ready to work on real, large-scale institutional projects while deepening their competency in professional digital fabrication methods.

This is not a classroom programme. Trainees will work alongside Unipod's technical team on live production tasks — operating industry-grade machinery, executing furniture and interior design projects for UR campus facilities, and contributing to a fast-moving fabrication environment. Every day on the programme is a day of real work, real output, and real professional growth.

What You Will Gain

  • Hands-on daily experience operating professional digital fabrication equipment including full-sheet CNC routers, industrial panel saws, and edge banding machines.
  • Practical skills in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) — tools that are increasingly essential in Rwanda's modern furniture and construction sectors.
  • Direct involvement in institutional-scale projects — including interior renovation and custom furniture production for the University of Rwanda's SPIU Gikondo campus and other UR facilities.
  • Professional mentorship and daily technical supervision by Unipod's Fab Master, with structured monthly performance guidance and feedback.
  • A formal Certificate of Completion issued by the University of Rwanda's Unipod hub upon successful completion of the twelve-month programme, recognising your demonstrated skills and contributions.
  • A verified professional portfolio of completed work — fabricated items, design files, and project records — that you can present to future clients or employers.
  • Integration into Unipod's professional network, including connections with UR's institutional partners, the IHIE (Innovate Here Impact Everywhere) community, and Rwanda's growing digital fabrication ecosystem.

Who Should Apply
