NASA Engineers Visit UNIPOD, Inspiring Rwandan STEM Innovators

The UNIPOD Innovation Hub at the University of Rwanda College of Science and Technology (UR-CST) welcomed a prestigious delegation from NASA on Friday, May 2, 2025. Led by Mr. Thomas Frost Hanisco, the visit marks a significant milestone in Rwanda’s growing prominence in STEM education and innovation.

NASA Engineers Engage with Rwandan Innovation Leaders

Coordinated through the U.S. Embassy in Kigali, the delegation met with key innovation leaders, including Mr. Pascal Nyiringango, Head of the UNIPOD Maker Space.

The highlight of the visit was a 45-minute interactive session with approximately 25-30 students and faculty members involved in innovation projects. Students presented their ongoing work, received expert feedback, and discussed career pathways in aerospace engineering.

Exploring Innovation Facilities

The NASA team toured the Maker Space facilities at UR-CST, observing how Rwandan students are developing innovative solutions to local and global challenges. Mr. Hanisco expressed admiration for the innovation ecosystem being cultivated at UNIPOD.
